Holla...It's Peep time!

I couldn't resist sharing some outrageous Peep pictures. These were some of my favorites. If you want more info on Peeps, you should check out the website and read how they are made and the history.

The Toilet Paper Nightmare

Yup, that may not be the exact spider that tried to kill me today, but it sure looks like it! Here is the short story. I was in the middle of taking a leak this morning and was getting my toilet paper ready. I was unrolling the TP and there he was, jumped on my hand, and then fell to the floor due to my insanely fast hatred of spider speed. Soo, I know what you are thinking. I peed on the floor. But the good news is that I didn't. Who knew the urethra could close that fast in an emergency situation. Needless to say, I killed the spider and continued the bathroom journey.

"It's only 2.50 and it fucks you up!"

One of my friends drinks this hazard in a can. Not to name any names, lets just use the nickname Leibs, loves this stuff. The breakfast of champions she would say. It is basically like a protein shake-good at any time of the day, so she believes. I couldn't help but blog about her latest habit.

Here is everything you need to know about Four Loko:

1. It was banned from sale due to its insane tasty goodness.

2. Watch out, it will kill ya!

3. Multiple flavors that make you look like you ate a parrot.

4. It is conveniently found at convenience stations.

5. It is 12% alcohol, 100% regret the morning after.

6. It has a catchy theme song "She said uh oh, I'm on the Four Loko"

Catholic people love Fish!

Lent. I have mixed feelings about this, especially since I work in a restaurant that is known for their cod. I have to work tonight, a Friday, in Lent. Sigh. We turn over a lot of tables in a nights time. The night usually ends with disappointing spare change tips and a giant mess of cracker crumbs and fried bits to clean up. With a hopeful outlook I can only wish that people will tip better and be a bit more polite to the middle man/woman who brings their food from the kitchen. Just a reminder to all you pricks who are mean to servers, they DO NOT cook the food, that is what the kitchen staff does. Tonight there will be a giant herd of Eastern Iowa Catholics on the hunt for seafood. Note to self: Avoid smelly church basements and townhalls. Wish me luck!

Strawberry Shortcake

It really doesn't get any easier than this dessert. The recipe is from a family friend who is an excellent cook. Little did I know that this was one of Chris's favorite sweets. The picture isn't mine, due to my sad BlueToothing capabilities, but it was the closest picture I could find that would resemble the look alike. Here is the recipe. Enjoy!

1 cup flour
1/2 cup white sugar
1/8 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 cup milk
1 egg
2 Tbsp melter butter

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a 9x9 or 8x8 pan.
2. Mix all the dry ingredients together and then add the wet ingredients. Stir.
3. Eat some batter. For Reals. It is delicious!
4. Spread in pan and cook for 20min or so. Use your judgment.

As for the sauce, just mash up some strawberries with a potato masher. I like to add some white sugar to create a simple syrup while mashing. Top with some whipped cream and try not to eat the whole pan.

Wedding Invitations

Here is the gist of our wedding invitation. There are a few minor changes and things to be added yet before they get printed and sent out, but over all I absolutely love them! I am getting them done through Bella Invita. She does absolutely beautiful work on all of her projects. I can't sing enough praises about her business. She is very willing to work with a budget too! Hooray! Ceremony programs and thank you cards to follow.

Hail storms in Iowa

Here is look at some severe weather that happened on Sunday night in Iowa. In Farley we are fortunate to only have had pea size hail, but the ground was covered in white snow balls! We are lucky because in Dubuque they had golf ball size hail and in Swisher, which is by Cedar Rapids, they had hockey puck hail! Super weird. We are fortunate to not have any damage.

Blogging

I need to start taking the time to blog again. I always say to myself, "this would be perfect to blog about" or "I will take pictures of this and then blog later". I think that my largest beef with blogging is that I have a slow computer and a camera that I have to hook a cord up to to download pictures. I prefer just Bluetoothing them to my computer from my phone, but I have troubles with that sometimes. My goal is to try and be better about it all around. Laziness should not be a factor. I should be having some interesting things to talk about such as the wedding, honeymoon, babies being born, and delicious food. I have been cooking and baking a lot! Enjoy!
