Montana Trip: Day 5 and 6

The next day we were up and back on the road again. We took the Going to the Sun Road to West Glacier. But along the way we stopped at Bering Falls. It had a sweet bridge to get to the waterfall!

We hiked down to see St. Mary Falls and it was AWESOME. It was my favorite waterfall yet!
It had gorgeous teal water everywhere.

Finally on West Glacier, its like a whole new world! Full of tourism and fancy houses with horses in paddocks! Loved it. We went to a place called the House of Mystery in Montana. The trees were growing around the vortex's! I think he said there was like 9 of them there.

Next we went driving into the middle of nowhere to get to our campsite. Chris was dying to take a picture next to this Bear! I got eaten alive at this campsite by bugs! The last picture is taken along side a road somewhere while driving.

Montana Trip: Day 4

Who needs Denny's when you have a Lodge cast iron! Every morning we would eat bacon, scrambled eggs, and warmed cinnamon bread. Chris was in charge of cooking on the trip-what a nice switch for a week!

Most often when entering Glacier you would see this sign immediately.

That day the sun was bright and worked in our favor for some great pictures. Most of these were taken on our hike to Redrock Falls. Chris told me to go stand out in the lake! Redrock Falls is in the distance right behind me.

We finally hiked a little bit farther and got the the top of the waterfall. From up there I made Chris capture my growth spurt. The rest of the pictures are at Redrock Falls.

We wanted to get pictures of us directly in the waterfall. Where is Waldo? I am standing up in mine and Chris is sitting down.

This is a popular flower called BearGrass and it is everywhere.

Hiking back, we saw people running the other way and screaming. Chris and I didn't know what was going on-then we saw them. Directly to my left about 30 feet away a mom with her 3 cubs. They headed back up the hill and I snapped these photos.

After the Hike we decided to go drive up to Logan's Pass on the Going to the Sun Road. You are literally driving on the mountain side with a steep fall to your left or right depending on which way you were going. Everywhere you looked it was breathtaking! Gorgeous snow covered Rocky.

Driving through the mountainside in a tunnel.

Up at Logan's Pass, we got out of the car and this guy was just standing here. Then people discovered him and chased him frantically around the parking lot trying to capture a photo. Then we saw a mountain goat and her kid! I guess the people the day before were feeding them, so they just keep coming back for more!

These are well know vehicles that are giving tours to many around Glacier Park. They have a convertable top so during the tour you can look directly up and see the mountains.

After leaving Logan's pass we kept driving just to see the rest and how bad the road construction was going to be for tomorrows journey across the road to West Glacier. These Bighorn sheep were on the road eating the salt from the road construction.

The rest are just gorgeous pictures while driving on the road. If you look closely on the second picture you can see the road on the left side coming down the mountain. And of course the infamous weeping wall that gets all inside your car if your windows aren't up!

At the Sunrift Gorge, just right along the road. Chris wanted me to sit on the
rock in the middle but I got too scared!

What a perfect end to the day!

Montana Trip: Day 3

For the next three days we would drive up to Many Glacier to go hiking or to shower. Surprisingly the showers were nice and only cost $2.50 for 8 minutes of water, so not luxury showering there.  On the way there animals would always be right next to the road and wouldn't be bothered by the cars. Here are some horses that I could have touched from the car window.

Out in the mountains, trees covered every inch of them in the foothills and valleys. As we continued driving, we saw the devastation that forest fires left behind from years ago.

Many Glacier was always packed everyday with lots of people hiking, touring, and camping. Our first hike we chose was  to see Iceberg Lake. It was a five mile hike that climbed 1200 feet and along the way a waterfall called Ptarmigan Falls was on the trail.

Out in Glacier they have these things called weeping walls and I am drinking from it!
Just kidding thats gross.

Here is Chris at a mini waterfall and a cute chipmunk on the trail.

Finally at about 3 miles we came across Ptarmigan Falls!

Most of the trails were very well kept until you got to the top and had to truck through snow. It was weird having show and it being 75 degrees out. Our destination of Iceberg lake lies in the crater of those mountains. The snow  and sun wasn't working in our favor of taking pictures this day.
On the way there I had to befriend some trees! I am literally a tree hugger. Some nice people took a photo of us and we took one of them!

Next we finally arrive!  A break and some food. It was freezing up there. The water is literally that turquoise color. It is gorgeous in person. The water is that color due to rock flour, sun's angle, and water depth.

I took this picture and then went to the gift store to buy a postcard and wah-lah my picture was right there on it! Creepy!

After we descended from the mountains we decided to go check out the hotel that sits on the lake. Inside Chris found a bighorn sheep that he wanted to feed.

After ordering an appetizer and a few beers we decided to head back to Cut Bank for the night. As we were driving out, there was a parade of people pulled over to look at some animal. To our surprise it was a Bull Moose! I snapped this goody of him. In Glacier, you don't look for animals, you look for people looking for animals.
