Florence and Pisa

We ate the breakfast buffet at the hotel and it totally sucked. A waste of 12 euro. But the. We hit the road and hopped the train to Pisa. It was only an hour train ride and it went by fairly fast.

We went to the Field of Miracles, as they call it. Basically the the highlights are the baptistry, duomo, and the leaning tower of Pisa. It was beautiful here and the overall environment was relaxed.

First up the baptistry which had a cool echo demonstration. It echoes for 10 seconds after the intiial. It is beautiful when listening.

Next the duomo. Mass was Taking place so not much could be seen or done in the church.

Leaning tower of Pisa was incredicable and everyone loves taking pictures with it. The lawns are crawling with people posing in odd positions just trying to capture the right shot. We fit right in.

After all of this we came back to Florence. We went to the Uffizi gallery, which holds alot of art but most famous is the Birth of Venus. No pictured allowed again.

A nice walk along the Arno River and up to the tourists gold and silver shops at the Ponte Vicchio. Super expensive but had beautiful views!

Then we walked back to the train station to buy tickets to Venice and got more gelato. I got 2 kinds in my dish. Cinnamon and cake. Both were good!

Later that night we went to eat at a very good restaurante. Chris loved the house wine and had a 4 cheese bacon penne pasta dish dripping with cheese and oil. I had a more reserved but very popular caprese salad. Fresh mozzarella cheese is everywhere here and is amazing!
